Locksmith in Historic Miramar (East of the Turnpike)
East of Florida's Turnpike, Miramar's original neighborhoods have been largely built out since the mid-1960s (City of Miramar), and many front doors there have been through several owners' worth of lock swaps. We replace more locks here than we rekey, usually after squaring up the door first. A new standard lock, installed, starts at $145; a house lockout at $99.

About the east side
- Roughly ZIP codes 33023 and 33025 — the older end of a city that runs about 14 miles from east to west (Wikipedia).
- Mid-century concrete houses. An impact-window installer describes east-side homes from 1953 whose original openings come in odd sizes, and notes the 1955 city limits are rarely under an HOA (Republic Window).
- Open streets. Most blocks have no gate, so there's no guest list to arrange — we park and knock.
- Old next to new. East Miramar is the city's redevelopment focus (City of Miramar, above), so remodeled houses sit beside original ones.
- Parks as landmarks. Fairway Park (3700 Largo Drive), Civic Center Park (7000 SW 35th Street) and Beauty Park (64th Avenue at Miramar Parkway) are all in 33023 (City of Miramar parks); naming the nearest one helps us find a house on these grid streets.
- The city's east edge. US 441 is where Miramar ends and West Park begins (AARoads). A house on the far side of that line isn't in Miramar even if the ZIP looks familiar, and we'll tell you so on the phone.
- Main roads. Miramar Parkway begins at US 441 (State Road 7) and heads west past University Drive and Red Road, then crosses the Turnpike without an interchange (Wikipedia: SR 858).
Common jobs east of the Turnpike, and why
- A deadbolt you have to lean on. When a door drops or swells, the bolt drags on the strike. Moving or opening up the strike often fixes it without a new lock.
- Three locks, three brands, three keys. Decades of one-at-a-time swaps leave a mismatched ring. We rekey what's sound to one key and replace what isn't.
- Original doors with odd bore holes, which may need a different lock body or a cover plate.
- The door from the garage or carport into the house. A Florida sheriff's office calls it a door people often leave unlocked, and suggests a Grade 1 deadbolt with long hinge screws (Lee County Sheriff).
- Duplexes and small rentals. Buildings of two to four units are about 5% of the city's housing (City-Data). Owners rekey between tenants; changing locks to keep a tenant out is against Florida law (F.S. 83.67).
How an east-side job usually goes
- Text us two shots: the lock face and the door's edge.
- We say whether it needs adjusting, rekeying or replacing, with the price.
- On site, we check the door hangs and closes true before touching the lock.
- A new deadbolt goes in so the bolt throws its full length — Broward's hurricane guide asks for at least one inch (Broward County).
- You try every key before we pack up.

Questions
Is a 60-year-old lock worth rekeying?
If it turns smoothly, yes. If it sticks or wobbles, a new one costs less over the next few years.
I just need a spare key. Do I need you?
Probably not. The Walmart in 33025 has a KeyMe kiosk for plain copies (KeyMe). Call us when the lock itself is the problem.
Any free help before I spend money?
Miramar police offer a free security survey of your home by appointment (Miramar Police). If it recommends better locks, we can fit them.
