Pool Gate & Pool Door Latches in Miramar, FL
We repair and install pool-gate latches and pool-door latches in Miramar so gates swing shut and latch on their own, with the release out of a small child's reach. In a city where more than half the homes are single-family houses (City-Data), a lot of them have a pool — and a latch that quietly stopped working.

What Florida's pool law asks for
- Gates in a pool barrier must open outward, away from the pool, be self-closing, and have a self-latching device with the release on the pool side, out of a young child's reach (F.S. 515.29).
- Doors from the house straight to the pool can be protected with a self-closing, self-latching device whose release sits no lower than 54 inches above the floor — one of the options the law allows for new pools (Florida Department of Health). This page explains the rules; for your specific pool, ask your inspector.
Prices
| Job | Starting price | Common total |
|---|---|---|
| Gate latch or hinge replaced | $145 | $145–275 |
| High-mounted latch on a pool door or slider | $145 | $145–275 |
| Pool-door alarm installed | $145 | — |
| Keyed gate lock rekeyed to your house key | $45 on a visit with other locks | $45–60 |
| Slider latch repair on a pool door | $99 | $99–179 |
What moves the total: a gate post that has rotted or leaned, so hinges won't hold; aluminum gates that need a latch made for metal; a gate that swings toward the pool and has to be re-hung; a slider that needs roller work before any latch will catch.
What we do
- Replace worn or rusted gate latches and hinges so the gate closes and latches every time.
- Adjust gates that drag, sag or swing the wrong way.
- Fit high-mounted self-latching devices on patio and slider doors to the pool.
- Rekey or replace keyed gate locks.
How a visit goes
- Text us a photo of the gate or door, the latch and the hinges.
- On site, we open the gate from several angles and let go, to see where it stops.
- We fix the cause — hinge tension, post, alignment — before fitting a new latch.
- We set the release height and test until it closes and catches every time.
- You try it yourself, and we show you how to adjust the hinge tension.
Miramar specifics
- Gated communities in the west often have their own fence and gate rules — ask your association before changing a gate's look. Community pools there are the association's business; in Silver Lakes they open by app (Wilder Real Estate Group).
- Older east-side yards may have gates and posts that have been patched many times; we'll tell you honestly if the post needs a fence company rather than a locksmith.
- New owners: check the pool gate on move-in day (new homeowners).
Quick self-check
Open the gate halfway and let go. If it doesn't close and latch by itself, it needs work.
Questions
Is a keyed padlock on the gate enough?
A padlock alone doesn't make a gate self-closing or self-latching.
Can you fix an alarm on the pool door?
Yes — we install pool-door alarms as well as latches, from $145.
My gate closes but bounces open. Usually a latch that's out of line with its striker, or a closer set too hard. Both are quick fixes.
Does the latch go on the inside or outside?
For a gate in a pool barrier, the release goes on the pool side, out of a young child's reach (F.S. 515.29 above).
