Miramar Mobile Locksmith — Questions & Answers
This page answers questions about how Miramar Mobile Locksmith works — gates, paying, ID, hours, licensing and languages. Questions about one particular job, like a rekey, a car key or a pool latch, are answered on that service's own page.
How do you get into a gated community?
Put us on your guest list or in your community's visitor app, or let the guard house know we're on the way. Some Florida gates use a kiosk that scans the visitor's driver's license and a remote guard who phones the resident (ButterflyMX), so keep your phone close. In Silver Lakes the setup can differ between sub-associations, so tell us yours.
Part of my key is stuck inside the lock. What does that cost in Miramar?
Broken-key removal starts at $99, priced like a house lockout. The piece usually comes out with a thin extractor and no damage; if the lock is worn from it, Ben C. can rekey or replace the cylinder during the same visit.
What should I hear when I call?
"Miramar Mobile Locksmith." We always answer with the business name, and the call stays with us, never handed to an out-of-area dispatcher. A generic "locksmith" greeting on a number you found for us means something is wrong: redial (954) 477-7404.
Can a property manager or HOA in Miramar use you on a regular basis?
Yes. Turnover rekeys, master-key systems, and keying a unit into the association's master once the board approves it in writing. Each visit is billed on its own, from the published price list.
Which Miramar ZIP codes are on your map?
Every Miramar address in ZIP codes 33023, 33025, 33027 and 33029. Parts of those ZIPs lie outside the city. When in doubt, read us your street name on the call and you'll have a yes or no before we hang up.
Does a night or weekend call cost more?
No. House lockouts begin at $99 and car lockouts at $89 at any hour; the whole list is on our prices page.
How soon can you get here?
Usually in about 20 minutes, anywhere in Miramar. The city stretches about 14 miles from east to west (Wikipedia), from Fairway Park near State Road 7 to Vizcaya Park out west, so we confirm the time for your address on the phone.
When do I pay, and how?
Once everything works and you've checked it — no deposits, no ATM runs. Card, Zelle, cash, Apple Pay or Google Pay are all fine, and the itemized invoice arrives in a text or an email.
What if I turn the price down once you're here?
You pay nothing at all.
And if it can't be opened cleanly?
We show you why. Turn down the drill and that opening is free of charge.
Can I cancel?
Yes, free of charge, any time before we get there.
What do you check before opening a house?
Photo ID showing the address, or a deed, lease, tax bill or utility bill in your name. If those papers are inside, we look at them as soon as the door opens.
And before opening a car?
Photo ID that matches the registration, the title or the rental agreement.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Miramar Mobile Locksmith holds the City of Miramar's Business Tax Receipt and is covered by commercial general liability insurance — ask and we'll send the certificate.
How can I check a locksmith's Miramar Business Tax Receipt?
Ask the business to show it — a real one is renewed every year by September 30. The city's Business Tax page offers no public search box, so to confirm one, email businesstax@miramarfl.gov or call 954-602-HELP (4357), Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (City of Miramar). City Hall is at 2300 Civic Center Place, and it handles receipts and permits, not lockouts.
I think a locksmith overcharged me, or I came home to a forced door. Who do I call?
Someone hurt, or a burglary under way: dial 911. For a report that can wait, the Miramar Police Department lists 954-764-4357 as its non-emergency line (Miramar Police). Don't go inside a home you think was broken into until officers have checked it.
Is a license required for Broward locksmiths?
Not at the moment. When HB 735, a 2021 Florida law, began to apply that July, Broward dropped its locksmith licensing and registration program (Broward County), and Tallahassee doesn't issue a statewide locksmith license either. What's worth checking instead is in our locksmith checklist.
Do you guarantee the work?
Yes — six months on our workmanship. Should a lock we fitted or repaired stop working properly within that time, we return and put it right at no cost. New locks carry their maker's warranty as well.
Do you come to Memorial Hospital Miramar, the Town Center or the Park of Commerce?
Yes. Homes, parking lots and offices anywhere inside Miramar's city limits, east or west of the Turnpike.
Can I email you?
Yes, at ben@miramarmobilelocksmith.com. For a lockout, a phone call is quicker.
Will you change a tenant's locks for a landlord?
Only at move-out or for a repair. Florida law forbids a landlord from shutting a tenant out by changing the locks (F.S. 83.67). Rekeying between tenants is fine, and common.
My condo association wants a copy of my key. Is that normal?
Yes, in many Florida condos the documents require it (Siegfried Rivera). Behind it is state law: Florida's condo statute gives the association an "irrevocable right of access" to each unit at reasonable hours when repairs to common elements require it (F.S. 718.111(5)). When we rekey or replace a condo lock, we can cut that extra key on the same visit.
Do you speak Spanish?
Sí. Ask for Spanish when you call, or read the Spanish FAQ.
Are you part of a big network?
No. We're one local Miramar business with a named lead technician, Ben C., and no call center in between.
